Frequently Asked Questions about Kenyan Tea (Loose Leaf)

Kenya is the world's largest tea exporter, known for CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) black tea with deep bronze color, bold brisk flavor, and exceptional 'strength' (infusion capability). High-altitude growing (1,500-2,700m) in volcanic soil produces distinctive flavor profiles. Kenyan tea is the base for most chai/karak blends consumed in GCC markets.

We supply various CTC grades. BP1 (Broken Pekoe 1) is the primary grade with strong liquor. PF1 (Pekoe Fannings 1) has fine particles for quick infusion. PD (Pekoe Dust) has the finest particles and the strongest brew. We also supply specialty orthodox whole leaf teas for premium markets. Grade selection depends on end-use: teabags prefer PF1/PD, loose leaf retail prefers BP1.

Minimum order is one 20ft container (18-20 metric tons) packed in paper sacks (30-50kg) or multiwall bags with food-grade liner. For branded retail packaging or custom blends, minimum is typically 5 metric tons with 6-8 week lead time for production. Sample quantities (5-20kg) are available for quality evaluation.

Store tea in airtight packaging in a cool (below 25°C), dry (below 60% humidity), dark area away from strong odors. Tea absorbs moisture and smells easily. Properly stored, Kenyan CTC tea maintains quality for 24-36 months. Avoid refrigeration, which causes condensation, and keep away from spices, chemicals, and sunlight.

Yes, we work with Kenyan tea processors who offer: custom blending (mixing grades for desired strength/flavor profile), private label packaging (your brand on retail packets 100g-1kg), custom teabag production (pyramid, round, or square bags), and specialty flavored teas. Minimum 5MT per SKU, 8-12 week lead time from approval.
