Frequently Asked Questions about Natural Sesame Seeds (Unhulled)
Chad produces high-quality sesame with excellent characteristics: high oil content (50-55%), clean nutty flavor that intensifies after roasting, and large uniform seeds ideal for visible applications. Chad sesame is chemical-free (rain-fed cultivation) and meets stringent international quality standards. Competitive pricing versus Indian and African alternatives makes it attractive for volume buyers.
We supply export-grade unhulled (natural) sesame seeds with the following specifications: purity 99.5%+ (cleaned, no foreign matter), moisture 6% maximum, oil content 50-55%, FFA (free fatty acid) 2% maximum. Seeds are natural white to light tan color with no oil processing or chemical treatment. Hulled (white) sesame available upon request.
Minimum order is one 20ft container (approximately 18-20 metric tons). Standard packaging: 25kg or 50kg polypropylene bags, or 1MT big bags (FIBC) for bulk processing. Custom packaging available for orders of 3+ containers. Seeds are double-bagged for moisture protection during ocean transit.
Chad sesame harvest is October-December, with cleaned export-grade available from December onwards. Peak shipping season is January-April when new crop is freshest. Limited quantities remain available through August-September before new harvest. Early booking (September-October) secures best pricing and allocation from new crop.
Unhulled natural sesame is primarily used for: tahini production (sesame paste - major demand in Middle East), bakery toppings (bread, buns, crackers), halva and confectionery manufacturing, sesame oil extraction, and roasted snack seeds. The intact hull adds nutrition (calcium, fiber) and the characteristic nutty flavor intensifies significantly after roasting.
Store in cool (below 25°C), dry (below 65% humidity) conditions in sealed containers away from direct sunlight. Due to high oil content, sesame can turn rancid if exposed to heat, light, or moisture. Properly stored, sesame seeds maintain quality for 12-18 months. For extended storage, consider refrigerated or nitrogen-flushed packaging.
